Weslaco- Guadalupe “Lupita” S Garcia, 97, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, April 9, 2020. She was at her home in Weslaco.
Lupita was born on December 18, 1922, to Melquiades and Maria Ysaac Sandoval in Lynch, Kentucky. She grew up in Weslaco with her brother, Nicolas, and sister, Eusebia.
Lupita married her soulmate, Saturino H Garcia, in 1940. They raised six daughters and enjoyed seventy-two years of marriage.
Lupita was driven and smart. She was a self-taught seamstress, working many years at Dickie’s in Weslaco. Lupita also spent several years at Tex Sun, all while raising six demanding daughters, who were all very thankful for mom’s skilled seamstress skills.
Lupita was a caring and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Saturnino H. Garcia, brother, Nicolas Sandoval, and sister, Eusebia Flores.
Lupita is survived by her loving daughters, Irene Garcia of Weslaco, Paula Moreno (Jose G), Maria Ester Staudt (Joe), both of Austin, Maria Guadalupe Flores, Maria Teresa Rodriguez (Mario), and Maria Susana De la Garza (Rudy+), all of Weslaco, fifteen grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and numerous nephews and nieces.
Lupita was a natural caregiver and will be greatly missed by all who loved her and whose lives she touched.
The family would like to thank her caregivers for their selflessness and dedication to Lupita, Gloria Garcia, Amelia Garcia, Patricia Martinez, Karina Zuniga, Kindred Hospice and staff, and Selah Hospice and Staff.
A private graveside service will be Friday, April 10, 2020, at Weslaco City Cemetery, officiated by Senior Pastor, Rajaratnam Masilamony of Seventh-Day Adventist Church of Weslaco.
