Herminio Ramirez

May 5, 1947 — November 12, 2024

Weslaco

Weslaco- Herminio Ramirez, beloved husband, father, and community member, passed away peacefully at his home on November 12, 2024, at the age of 77. Born on May 5, 1947, in Edcouch, Texas, Herminio lived a life marked by artistic brilliance, compassion, and a deep commitment to his family and community.

Herminio met his soulmate, Margarita Garcia, in 1967. Margarita was still in high school. They were married in 1970 and spent the rest of their lives together.

Herminio was naturally artistic, and free-hand painting became his passion. Throughout his career, he was a beloved art director and creative visionary. Herminio made significant contributions to Texas Plastics, Region One, and KRGV. Eventually, he was also the proud owner of a silkscreen shop, H&EDillo Shirts, where his artistic talents flourished. Herminio was not just a skilled professional; he was an intelligent and caring individual who strived to provide and inspire those around him. H&EDillo Shirts allowed Herminio to share his talent with the community while providing for his family.

Herminio's creative spirit extended beyond his work. He found joy in free-hand art and embraced his love for storytelling through the writing and illustrating of children's books. Fishing at the pier in Port Isabel and the South Padre Island jetties brought him peace, as did watching the sun rise and set. He was a dedicated football fan, enjoying both NFL and college games. Music was another passion, as he delighted in playing the drums in a Conjunto band. His love for barbecuing created cherished gatherings with friends and family, further highlighting his nurturing and loving nature.

Herminio could light up any occasion with his playful and lighthearted mood. Herminio was also a man of faith, attending mass often and modeling through his loving husband and father role.

Herminio is preceded in death by his parents, Herminio and Alejandrina (Cavazos) Gonzalez, and his son, Herminio Miguel Ramirez.

He is survived by his loving wife, Margarita Ramirez; their daughters, Yolanda Penbrook (James) and Leticia Ramirez (Felipe Pruneda); grandchildren, James Penbrook Jr., Justin T. Penbrook (Lexi), Kristin Penbrook, Luis C. Castillo, Divany A. Pruneda, Felipe "J.P." Pruneda, Herminio Miguel Ramirez Jr., Rafael Ramirez, and great-grandchildren, Kalila Ramirez, Michael Penbrook, and James Penbrook, and his sister, Melba Gonzalez.

As we gather to honor Herminio's remarkable life, the visitation will take place on November 15, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM, followed by a Holy Rosary at 7:00 PM at McCaleb Funeral Home, 900 W 4th St. in Weslaco, TX 78596.
