WESLACO - Idalia Maldonado Gonzalez has gone to be with our Lord and Savior on Monday July 12, 2021. Idalia was born on October 23, 1956 in Mission, Texas to Samuel Maldonado and Olivia Rodriguez Maldonado. She attended school in Mission, Tx. She later moved to Donna, TX where she lived and went to church with friends, until she met her husband, Benigno L. Gonzalez. They wed and moved to Weslaco, Texas to start a family. After welcoming her three children, she and her husband ultimately settled in Mercedes, to raise their new family. Idalia stayed home to care for her children helping to ensure they were raised as part of a strong family in the Apostolic Church, she was involved in her church women’s group and always looked after her neighbors.
Idalia was a caring and loving friend to many people that she met throughout her years, helping as many as she could. She was a proud mother, grandmother, sister to her 7 siblings, and a loving aunt to her nephew and nieces. She loved music and enjoyed singing in her church. She was also a great fan of sports and loved to play softball (for a long as her body let her) and really enjoyed playing many basketball games with her kids at home. What she loved the most was spreading the word of God and letting people know how the Lord blessed her life and they, too, could also be saved. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband and middle child Benigno Jr. (Benny Boy) and is survived by her two children Thomas (Jennifer) of Alamo and Maria Olivia of Mercedes, and 4 grandchildren Ashleigh Morgan, Emilee Alyce, Thomas Wayne, and William Ben whom she loved very much.
Services are pending at this time, and will be held at a later date, to better honor her life and her service to the Lord.
