WESLACO - Ignacia V. De La Rosa, 85, of Weslaco, Texas, died peacefully in her sleep on November 18, 2016. She was born on July 31, 1931, and is preceded by her husband of 61 years, Hugo De La Rosa Sr., and her sons Jose Hugo De La Rosa Jr., and Enrique De La Rosa. Loving survivors include her nine children, Manuel (Emma) De La Rosa, Angel (Frances) De La Rosa, Dolores (Pat) Florio, David De La Rosa, Roman De La Rosa, Mayra (Joe) Flores, Frances (Ralph) Favela, Hector (Becky) De La Rosa, and Juan (Ale) De La Rosa, her twenty-nine grandchildren, as well as twenty-three great grandchildren. Ignacia will be remembered as a very strong woman who raised 10 children. She had nine children and adopted another. She loved to dance and she and Hugo spent many nights dancing at local dance halls. She was a great cook and had several famous dishes, including, Pollo del Salsa and Cabrito Gisada, which was "finger licken good"! Her most favorite pastime was working in her yard. She loved her plants and spent countless hours caring for them. Visitation services are held Saturday, November 19th, from 5:00- 9:00 p.m. and Sunday, November 20th, from 1:00-9:00 p.m. with The Rosary on Sunday at 7:00 p.m. at McCaleb Funeral Home in Weslaco. Mass will be held at San Martin De Pores Catholic Church on Monday, November 21st, 2016 at 10:00 a.m., followed by graveside service at Highland Cemetery in Weslaco. Funeral arrangements are under the care of McCaleb Funeral Home of Weslaco.
