Weslaco: Irma Delia Medina, 49, passed away after a courageous battle against cancer. Irma was born on November 27th, 1971, to Macaría Cavazos and Inocencio Valdez.
Irma spent her childhood in Mexico. She married her childhood friend, Jacinto, and they spent the rest of their lives together. Irma and Jacinto migrated to the United States and raised five children together. Irma worked at Woodcrafters for most of her adult life. Irma loved her job. She was a hard worker, and after work, she managed to come home and make sure her kids were bathed and fed.
One of Irma’s way of showing her family and friends love was to prepare a delicious meal. She loved to cook, and many of her treasured recipes will be passed down for generations. Some of the favorites were Tamales, Caldo de Pescado, Pineapple Upside-Down cake, andHojarascas. Irma loved spoiling her guests, especially her children and grandchildren.
Irma also loved to shop till you drop. She and her children have many fond memories of all-day shopping ventures. She also loved coffee, and there were lots of Starbucks stops during these adventures. Irma was caring, loving, compassionate, and humble. She was a woman of strong Christian values and led by example.
Irma is preceded in death by her mom, Macaria Cavazos, grandaughter, Dezerae S. Rendon, and brother, Isidro Valdez.
She is survived by her loving husband of over thirty years, Jacinto Medina, father, Inocencio Valdez, children, Gloria Rendon (Isaac) of Donna, Marco Antonio Medina, Marisol Medina, Alexis Medina, and Destiny Medina, all of Weslaco, siblings, Manuela Mejia (Miguel), Amada Morales (Fermin), Jaime Valdez (Gladys), Paula Roque (Jaime), Maria Lopez (Rito), Gerardo Valdez (Diana), Victoria Herrera (Francisco), and Aurora Valdez, grandchildren, Gabriel, Isaiah, and Alondra Rendon.
Visitation will be Tuesday, January 26th, 1-9 pm. Graveside services will be Wednesday, January 27th, 1 pm, at Highland Memorial Park in Weslaco.
