Weslaco- Rev./Dr. Ismael Loa ”Mike” Ramos, age 81, completed his earthly mission on December 30, 2013 while at McAllen Medical Center of severe injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was born on April 4, 1932 in Weslaco, TX to Ysidro Zaragosa Ramos & Maria Loa Ramos. A man of distinguished accomplishments, he served others with compassion and care. At the age of 20, he volunteered to serve his country in the US Army. He completed the following educational endeavors: BA in Business Administration, Theology and PhD in Philosophy. As an ordained minister for 55 years of the Apostolic Assembly Church, he served as a Pastor for 43 years in Weslaco and Elsa. Throughout his life, he continuously served his community by always finding ways to give of himself as he worked with Knapp Medical Center Pastoral Care Department, Lions Club, American Legion, American GI Forum, Valley Wide Ministerial Alliance and Christian Family Counselor.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Elizabeth Garcia Ramos and his five children, David (Ana) Ramos of Harlingen, Cynthia Ramos of Edinburg, Diana (JC) Milligan of Harlingen, Rosalinda (Sem) Vargas of Harlingen, & Daniel (Michelle) Ramos of Austin; 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Also surviving are his three sisters, Elva R. Cantu of Oceanside, CA, Maria Ramos Alfaro (Richard Peña) of San Antonio, TX, and Lupe Ramos-Montigny of Grand Rapids, MI; and one brother, Carlos Ramos of Weslaco, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ysidro & Maria Ramos; sisters, Irma Ramos, Rosa R. Montague, Eliza R. Sandoval and one brother, Rodolfo (Rudy) Loa Ramos, Esq.
His strong voice and beautiful melodies will be missed! He never met a stranger because he loved to share his songs with whomever or where ever he was. We are assured that he is now singing with the angels in Glory!
Join us in celebrating the life of our beloved husband, father, grandpa, uncle, brother, Pastor and friend on Thursday, January 2, 2014 at Templo Ebenezer, 209 E. Sugar Cane Dr., Weslaco, TX with visitation from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm and a Homecoming memorial service at 7:00 pm. Graveside services and interment will be held on Friday, January 3, 2014 at 11:00 am at the Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery, 2520 S. Inspiration Rd. in Mission, TX. Honor us with your presence.
