Weslaco: Jack Ellis Stewart, 83, passed away at Harlingen Medical Center on August 14, 2023. He was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to Lloyd and Ola (Shoemaker) Stewart on October 31, 1939.
Jack grew up on a farm in Arkansas. From a young age, Jack showed a natural aptitude for all things mechanical. It was no surprise that he pursued a career as a mechanic, where he became known for his ability to work on everything from small engines to large agricultural and construction equipment. Jack's passion for mechanics fueled his commitment to honing his skills throughout his lifetime, ensuring that he provided impeccable service and dedicated over sixty years to perfecting his craft.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Jack lived a life filled with diverse interests and hobbies. He loved the outdoors and often spent his free time hunting and fishing. Jack was also known for his cooking, particularly barbecues. One of his specialities was his mouth-watering pecan pie would often accompany Thanksgiving dinners.
When Jack wasn't outdoors, he enjoyed watching classic Western films. The spectacle of cowboys riding into the sunset resonated with him deeply.
But above all else, Jack cherished his role as a caring family man. His devotion knew no bounds as he continuously provided unwavering support and assistance to anyone in need. With a genuine smile, Jack selflessly offered help whenever required. His good-natured spirit and easygoing demeanor endeared him to all who enjoyed crossing paths with him.
One of Jack's most endearing qualities was his exceptional sense of humor. He had an innate ability to bring joy into people's lives through laughter. Jack would frequently tell jokes that had everyone in stitches, brightening even the gloomiest of days. His quick wit and infectious laugh created an atmosphere of warmth and love wherever he went.
Jack is survived by his loving wife, Alicia; son, David Stewart; daughter, Debbie Massimiano, stepchildren, David Champion Jr. (Virginia), Omar "Marty" Champion(Sarita), and Teressa Sanchez (Robert), brothers, Jimmy Stewart (Eva), Johnny Stewart (Rose), Joe Stewart (Lesley)
fifteen grandchildren; Amber, Hollie, Robin, Alyson, Garrett, and Dalton, Chandra, Anthony, and Cheyenne, Daniel Andrew, David Alexander, Oscar Rios, David Anthony, Rebecca Lynne (Omar Cabrera), Nikolas Rey, and one great-grandchild, Ivan Omar Cabrera.
Visitation service will occur at McCaleb Funeral Home in Weslaco, Texas, on Tuesday, August 22, 2023, from 11:00 am to 9:00 pm, with a Rosary at 7 pm. The burial ceremony will be held at Highland Memorial Park on August 23, 2023, starting at 11:00 am.
