WESLACO - Jaime Manuel Onderdonk, 45, passed away Friday, January 20, 2017 at his residence in Weslaco after difficult battle with cancer. Jaime was born on September 27th, 1971 to Gary Lee and Sandra Flores. Jaime grew up in Mercedes. He attended high school at Med High. He had one brother, John. He met his wife, Sherry, in 2001. As fate would have it, they met at the scene of an accident and spent the next seventeen years together. They were blessed with a daughter, Paige. Jaime was a Weslaco Police Officer, serving the city of Weslaco since 1998. Jaime has worked in various assignments to include patrol, SWAT, and the training division, dedicating himself to public service. He is also a Navy Veteran, where he served our country selflessly He has always been known for his work ethic, warrior mindset, and ability to make people around him smile and laugh. Some of his hobbies include race cars and he spent many weekends racing in Laguna Vista. He spent countless hours fixing up his Porche 944 to get it ready for racing. Jaime loved Formula One and knew stats from almost any drive from years back. He really enjoyed watching races. Jaime is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, John Gilbert and Marlene Onderdonk, maternal grandparents, Manuel and Aurora Sontoya, and his dad, Gary Lee Onderdonk. He is survived by his mom, Sandra Flores, his step-dad, Guadalupe Flores, his loving wife, Sherry Onderdonk, his children, Cody Heart of Magnolia, Texas, Joseph Yates of Weslaco, Alexandra Luna (Sean) of Harlingen, and Paige Onderdonk, grandson, Ashton Jaime Luna, granddaughter, Allison Danielle, brother, John Onderdonk, nieces, Camryn K. and Colbie V. Onderdonk, all of Brownsville. In lieu of flowers, the family is respectfully asking for contributions to pay for expenses.
