HARLINGEN - Jean Marcel Mullere, age 76, passed away at home surrounded by his family, on January 29, 2016, after battling cancer and other medical issues for the past year.
He is preceded in death by his parents “Frenchy” and Marguerite Mullere. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Mary Jane, as well as his children Cindy Richter (Randall), Charles Robert (Jill), Starla Hughston (Sam), and Darla Tilden (Jerry), and ten grandchildren, Eric, Zachary, Landon, Taylor, Ashley, Ashlynn, Shelby, Hunter, Ryan, and Preston, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Jean was born on July 14, 1939, in Edinburg, Texas, and was a lifelong resident of the Rio Grande Valley. He graduated from Edcouch-Elsa High School and studied business at Pan American College. Jean married his beloved wife Mary Jane in 1961 after meeting her at the Skyview Drive Inn and dating for several years. He worked for Goodyear Tire for over ten years and then worked for numerous car dealerships in the Valley. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of San Benito.
Jean was known for his great personality. He was always happy-go-lucky, and there was never a dull moment when Jean was around. His children and grandchildren were the highlight of his life, and he loved taking his family on long vacations every year. He also enjoyed playing card games with his family and friends.

The viewing is scheduled for Sunday, January 31, from 3:00-9:00 with family from 4:00-6:00 at McCaleb Funeral Home in Weslaco. Graveside service is on Monday, February 1, at 10:00 at Highland Memorial Park, Weslaco.
