Jean was born on June 1, 1937 in Columbus to Wisconsin to Earl & Evelyn Battist. She found learning especially easy and graduated as co-valedictorian of Lake Mills High class of 1954.

Good times followed her. Her first job was as secretary to 5 CPAs. She continued with this until she married her husband, Don, on June 9, 1956 on a beautiful day in Wisconsin. They then moved to Las Cruces, New Mexico, where Don was serving in the Air Force. In those days, lots of women stayed home and Jean thought that was a good idea. Well, that lasted just a month, and Jean started work at White Sands Proving Ground.

As the years moved, on, children arrived and Jean worked part-time jobs if they didn't interfere with the boys and their activities.

Volunteering was always a part of Jean's life. She served on the Geneseo Community Chest Board, President of Women's Church groups at Geneseo, Illinois and West Bend WI. Served as Kitchen chairman for Church dinners for 1000 folks for 5 years Also was treasurer of neighborhood HOA.

Jean and Don moved to John Knox Village in August of 2013. Jean found things to do-play bridge cyping new song sheets for the Friday morning sing-a-long, just hanging out and shooting the breeze at happy hours and parties.

She will be missed.
