Jeanette Swanson was born on August 17 1928 and earned her Angel wings on Tuesday May 3 2016 at the age of 87. She was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Wilhelmina Tillman of Rush City, MN. She was the youngest of 5 siblings.
On her 20th birthday, August 17th 1948 she married the love of her life, William (Bill) Swanson.
Jeanette and Bill had known each other since childhood. They began a family in 1949. Over the next several years she bore 4 children, being a mostly stay at home mom through the children’s younger years. She then began a career at National School Studios (now Lifetouch) as a retouch specialist. When Jeanette retired, her and Bill moved to south Texas to enjoy warm weather, friends and fellowship at their church. Jeanette enjoyed playing “hand and foot” and other games with her many friends in Texas. She loved music, enjoyed sewing, playing the piano and organ and loved to sing in the choir at the 1st United Methodist Church in Donna TX. She was also involved in many of the activities in the church. Jeanette was dedicated to God and her family. Jeanette had a very strong faith which carried her through many difficult times as her health failed and her body became broken. It was amazing that she kept such a good attitude through all her trials and tribulations, and always had a great sense of humor.
Jeanette’s family is forever grateful for the lessons of love that she taught us throughout her life. She would tell us, if we did not have something good to say about one another, then best to not say it. One of her favorite quotes was “this too shall pass”. She was sent to her Heavenly Father with her family singing “How Great Thou Art” .
Jeanette was preceded in death by her parents Benjamin and Wilhelmina Tillman, Brothers: Roy Tillman and Wallace Tillman sisters: Fern Bergfalk and Ruth Swanson. Jeanette is survived by her husband William (Bill) Swanson, daughters: Kathryn (Dwight) Hodges, Lorelei Swanson, Marcia Swanson. Son: Mark (Wendy) Swanson.
