John Paul Cox

WESLACO - John Paul Cox, 46, passed away on Monday, November 14th, 2016 in Harlingen. John Paul was born in McAllen, Texas to Paula Ann Cortez and John Joe Cox. He graduated from McAllen Memorial High School in 1987. He got his associates degree and worked as an EMT for most of his career. John Paul married Nora Lopez in 2000. They had one son, Paul Cruz Cox. Rush was one of his favorite bands. He would travel all over to watch them in concert. John Paul was also a huge Dallas Cowboy fan and nothing would come between him and rooting for his favorite football team. He loved to barbecue and will always be remembered as a talented chef who enjoyed pleasing others. He was a lot of fun to be around and always had a sense of humor. He is survived by his loving wife, Nora Lopez Cox, and his son, Paul Cruz Cox, his mom, Paula Ann Cheever, his step dad, Harry Gene Cheever, his brother, Cory Gene Cheever (Valerie Christi) and sister Valerie Cheever Garza (Ricardo). A memorial mass will be held on Thursday, November 17th, at 10am, at San Martin de Porres in Weslaco, with inurnment to follow at Sacred Park Cemetery in Mercedes. Funeral arrangements are pending with McCaleb Funeral Home of Weslaco.
