Weslaco- Jorge Luis Medina, born April 8, 1954, in Weslaco, Texas, passed away peacefully on December 17, 2024, at his home. A devoted community member, Jorge was widely known for his skills as a craftsman and his unwavering commitment to helping others.
Throughout much of his career, Jorge worked at Iowa Beef Master before returning to his hometown of Weslaco, where he embraced the role of an entrepreneur. His talents were diverse, and he became a jack of all trades, skilled in carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, and general contracting. The quality of Jorge's work was remarkable, and he earned a reputation for excellence that resonated widely; his business cards featured the nickname “The Mexican MGuiver,” accompanied by the mantra “no job too big or too small.” This title reflected not only his capabilities but also his willingness to tackle any challenge.
Jorge's kindness extended beyond his professional life. Known for his compassionate spirit, he frequently dedicated his time and services to helping those in need, often constructing wheelchair ramps or performing essential repairs for individuals facing hardships. His love for animals was equally profound; Jorge was known to take in every stray that came his way, embodying a nurturing heart that could not turn away from a needy or helpless pet.

Jorge is preceded in death by his parents, Luis T. Medina and Guadalupe Martinez, his son, Terry Medina, and his sister, Maria Garza.
He is survived by his sons, George Medina, Tony Medina, Louie Medina (Vanessa Guerrero), and Chris Medina; his daughter-in-law, Noelia Medina; the mother of his children, Rosa Medina; his sisters, Estela Castro (Arturo), Gloria Gutierrez (Mike), and Alma Fox (Israel), his grandchildren, Brianna, Alejandro, Kayla, Luis, Raymond, Viriana, Julian, Damian, Talia, Unique, Michael, Alex, and Telissa, and numerous nieces and nephews.
