Jose was born in the Phillipines where he studied nursing and also received a doctorate degree. Knapp Medical Center was blessed with his arrival in February of 1982, where he would dedicate his career to until his death. Jose was a dedicated nurse and all who knew him were fond of his dedication and work ethic. Every year he was instrumental in coordinating the Knapp Medical Conference at South Padre Island. This was his annual project and he was quite proud of it, as were all that attended and reaped the benefits of his dedication and hard work to make the event a continual success.
Jose was also an entrepreneur, his business partner, also his best friend, was Sergio Tamez. They were in the process of building a huge adult day care and event center in La Feria and Jose was very involved and instrumental in this project.
Jose loved life, friends and family, those were his favorite past times. He was very impulsive and some say a little crazy in a fun way. He loved to travel and would spend many vacations with his local adopted family, the Tamez’s. They spent three weeks in California and three weeks in Florida, exploring all of the islands. They also loved to visit Las Vegas.
The medical community, along with the city of Weslaco, have suffered a huge loss. Jose was a great man and will be grieved by many and remembered by all who knew him.
Jose will finally be going back to his homeland Philippines, where he longed to be with his family.
Visitation will be held at McCaleb Funeral Home on Monday, October 19th, from 1:00-9:00pm, with a rosary at 7:30pm, a reception will follow at McCaleb Funeral Home Reception Room and all are welcomed to attend.
