Jose Rene Flores Jr., 49, earned his Heavenly wings on Tuesday, December 22, 2020. On August 26, 1971, he was born to Jose Rene Flores Sr. And Violeta Castillo Flores in Weslaco. Rene grew up in Weslaco with two brothers and a crew of brothers, not brought together by blood but by the unremarkable and unbreakable bond of friendship. While attending Weslaco High School, Rene met the love of his life, Yvette Cabrera. In his true gentlemanly nature, Rene went to Yvette’s home when he was twenty years old and asked her mother if he could date Yvette. The rest is history. Rene held to his promise of taking good care of Yvette. He treated her like a queen and was a hopeless romantic at heart, buying her roses and surprising Yvette with gifts their entire marriage.
Rene was a dedicated driver in the trucking industry. He worked with his father in their business, QWest Logistics. More than a career or being a business owner, for Rene, truck driving was his passion. He loved the experience of driving down the road while listening to country music. One can maybe imagine him as he would drive down the road, country music playing, thoughts of his family going through his mind as he sees the landscapes changing, and miles on the odometer spinning. "Turn and burn" was his favorite saying. It is what he did, long hours, endless miles, but he did this with a deeply loving heart for his family. Though he faced many long hours and endless miles on the road, he did so with a deeply loving heart for his family. This is what drove his passion for the job. This is what a man with a servant's heart does for his family. This was Rene.
Rene is remembered as someone easygoing and relaxed. He loved his boots and jeans, loved barbecuing Most of all he loved spending his time with family and close friends. He was also a devoted outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. Later in life, Rene dedicated some of his time to learning the guitar, which came naturally to him. As a man of enduring faith, Rene believed in God and led by example, by showing compassion and kindness in every aspect of his life and to all those he crossed paths with.
Rene is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Yvette Cabrera Flores, his parents Violeta Flores and Jose Rene Flores Sr, his brothers, Ernesto Flores and Edmundo Flores, his children Vanessa V. Gonzalez(Jorge Cantu Jr.), Jose R. Flores III, and Alyssa R. Flores, all of Weslaco, grandchildren Aaron M. Guajardo Jr., and Jaron L. Cantu.
