Jose R. Martinez

Weslaco- Jose Martinez Sr., 86, has gone to be with the Lord on January 21, 2014. He traveled as a migrant to support his family. He was a caring and loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. He may be gone but never forgotten. He will be missed dearly.
He is preceded in death by his parents , Guadalupe Martinez and Manuela Cavazos; sisters, Guadalupe Martinez and Margarita Martinez; and brothers, Isidoro Martinez and Jesus Martinez.
He is survived by his loving wife, Demecia Martinez; children, Juana Rodriguez (Bernardino), Jose Martinez Jr. (Martha), David Martinez (Sylvia), Dianna Martinez (Gerardo) and Rose Vela (Leonel); 10 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.
Also surviving are his sisters, Irene M. Zapata, Celia Basulto and Victoria Bustamante; and brothers, Gregorio Martinez and Cosme Limon.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 22, 2014 from 5pm to 9pm and Thursday, January 2, 2014 from 1pm to 9pm, with a rosary at 7pm at McCaleb Funeral Home in Weslaco. Funeral Mass to be held Friday, January 24, 2014 at 10am at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Weslaco. Interment to follow at Highland Memorial Park in Weslaco.
