OBITUARY FOR JOSE SIMON RAMIREZ WESLACO - Jose Simon Ramirez was born on December 7, 1930, in La Quemada, Guanajuato to his parents Clemente Ramirez and Maria Del Refugio Galvan whom he preceded in death. He is survived by his wife, Maria del Rosario Ramirez Lopez Ojo de Agua of Weslaco, Maria de la Luz Valdez, sisters Maria Luisa Ramirez Gonzalez, Maria Castula Najera, brother Jose Onofre Ramirez and Jose Pedro Ramirez, children, Rosa Elia & Javier Donia of Weslaco, Mary (Ruby) and Omar Perez of La Villa, Rosa Elvia and Marco Romero of La Villa, Raquel and Moises Espinoza, Roxanne and Juan Pancheco of Weslaco. Grandchildren are Ariel Rubie Perez, Adrian Ramirez, Dylan Omar Perez, Jessica Doria, Alexandra Marie Espinoza, Natalie Marie Cavazos, Andrea Rae Espinoza, Sierrah Lynn Perez, Kassandra Doria, Simon Anthony Romero, Breanna Lee Cavazos, Robert Samuel Romero, Audrey Renee Espinoza, Mandy Delanie Cavazos. He was married to the love of his life for 58 years. He was a loving and exceptional husband, father, grandfather, uncle, mentor, and friend. He loved his family fiercely and wholeheartedly. He enjoyed entertaining everyone and anyone with his stories, jokes, singing, and playing the harmonica. He was always up to the date with current events as he loved watching the news. He delighted watching old movies, signing along especially those with Pedro Infante and La India Maria. He always enjoyed a Saturday morning cartoon. Our favorite childhood memory was when he would wake us early so we could watch cartoons with him. Jose was dedicated to his work and took each and every duty seriously. He started working as a boy at seven years old. He was proud of his job from a paletero, brazero, dog groomer, barber welder and carpenter. He was passionate about working at Azteca Milling Company. He spent over 41 years devoted to this company both in Mexico as well as the U.S. He always worked hard and gave 110% to his job regardless of the time of day or night he was called to work. He applied for residency into the United States and had to move to Houston alone to start working and have enough income to request his family be granted residency as well. He briefly worked at Igloo, but then went to work for Astro Fence. He spoke fondly of the owner and son, Paul Burns, whom he indicated were instrumental in helping him get his family to be granted residency into the U.S. In 1999 he proudly became a United States citizen. He took pride in this right and always ensured he voted because he felt he had a duty to have his voice heard. He was a lover of dogs, especially his own whom he would always greet them as soon as he arrived home. He loved working with his hands and creating or inventions mechanism to be more efficient. He enjoyed making various objects in the home to help his wife as well. He was a remarkable welder but he ensured that anything he built would last the test of time. Pallbearers will be Dylan Omar Perez, Mary Ruby Perez, Roxanne Pacheco, Andrea Espinoza, Moises Espinoza, Alexandra Maria Espinoza, Sierrah Perez, Natalie Maria Cavazos, Simon Anthony Romero and Robert Samuel Romero. Visitation will be Tuesday, July 23, 2019, 10:00 am - 9:00 pm with a 7 pm Rosary at McCaleb Funeral Home in Weslaco. Funeral Mass is scheduled for Wednesday, July 24, 2019, 10:00 am at San Martin De Porres Catholic Church with burial to follow at Highland Memorial Park.
