Josephine Marie Blawat

ALAMO - Josephine Marie Blawat, 80, passed away on Friday, September 8, 2023 at her home in Alamo.  Josephine was born on June 11th, 1943 in Dubuque, Iowa to Paul and Eleonor (Becker) Schwendinger.

After graduating from highschool, Josephine attended Antonian School of Nursing where she earned her LPN in 1963.

She married La Verne John Fehring on August 29th, 1964. They had five children and one passed away in 1970.

Josephine went back to school and earned an Associates Degree in Registered Nursing from Des Moines Area Community College in 1985. She spent the next fifty years working as a nurse in several hospitals.

Josephine's husband passed away in 2000. Sixteen years later, she married James Blawat on Valentines Day, 2016.

Josephine is survived by her husband, James, four children, eight grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

Cremation services will be private.
