Joshua Devin Powell

WESLACO - Joshua Devin Powell, 3, passed away on Thursday, Agust 09, 2018 in a tragic car accident in Edinburg. He was born on February 24th, 2015, the fourth born, with three older brothers. Joshua was a perfect baby of the family, always striving to keep up with his older brothers who adored him. He was a fun three years old, always laughing and happy. He could have a virus and on medicine, but he never lost his beautiful smile, which will remain in his families hearts eternally. At the early age of three, he had already been exposed to much of the world. The family visited the beach all of the time, Six Flags a few times, Sea World, and even a Thomas the Train tour in Grapevine, Texas. He loved his stuffed animal, Sonic, spending time in the pool, and just being around his family. Joshua passed away along with his loving mom, Marci Lou, and grandma, Maria Isabel De La Garza. He is also preceded in death by his great-grandmother, Mercedez De la Garza. He is survived by his father, Aaron Powell, big brothers James "Ethan", Darren Bryce, and Keneth Brent, grandfathers, Michael Powell (Estela), Ruben Guajardo Jr., grandmother, Deborah Vance (Terry), great-parents, Amador De la Garza, Russell and Mary Mapes, uncles, Ruben Guajardo, Jeremy Wayne McKey (Toni), aunts, Joanna Clem (David), Jeanna Yvette Guajardo, Isabel Guajardo, Michelle Powell (Richard Bell), cousins, Denver Ridge, Shawn, Shane, John "JT", Jackson Wayne, and Jackson Reid,, Ella Louise, Serenity and Emma June. Joshua will forever be remembered as a three-year-old ball of fire, who was full of love, laughter, and happiness. Visitation will be held on Monday, from 2pm-9pm, with an hour of prayer and sharing at 7 pm, at McCaleb Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 14th, at 12 pm, at McCaleb Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at the Texas Veteran's Cemetery in Mission.
