Weslaco--Juan C. Cavazos, Sr., 81, a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother joined our heavenly Father on Saturday, August 30, 2014. He was born on September 17, 1932 in Robstown, TX. He was better known as a successful businessman and co-owner of A. Cavazos and Son’s Tortilla Factory, whose business savvy and work ethic were passed on to his sons and grandsons. He was known for being an extremely charitable and caring man, not only to his family but to others in the community who often were the recipients of his generosity.
He is survived by his wife, Romana Cavazos; his children, Oralia (Armando), Juan Jr. (Martha), David (Irene), Danny (Anne), Eloy (Elvia), Rene (Juana), and Cecilia (Lupe); his sisters Dominga, Angelita and Diana; his brothers Antonio and Jesus; 28 grandchildren, and 21 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arnulfo and Braulia Cavazos, a brother, Miguel (Mike) and sisters: San Juanita and Gertrudes.
Viewing will be held from 5 to 9 pm on Sunday, August 31, with a Rosary at 7 pm at McCaleb Funeral Home in Weslaco, TX. A second viewing will be held on Monday, September 1, from 3 to 9 pm with a Rosary at 7 pm. The funeral mass will be held at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, September 2, at San Martin de Porres Catholic Church in Weslaco, TX. Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Park in Weslaco. Serving as pallbearers will be LeRoy Martinez, Armando Medrano, Jr., Joseph Cavazos, Jacob Cavazos, Eric Hernandez, and Michael Cavazos. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Eloy Cavazos, Jr., Steven Medrano, Juan (Johnny) Cavazos, III, Jonathan Cavazos, James Cavazos and Thomas Cavazos and Rene Cavazos Jr.
