Juana Medina, a resilient and loving woman, passed away on January 12, 2024, at her home in Weslaco. Juana was born on June 24, 1931, in San Luis Potosi, Mexico, to Tomas and Jovencia (Gomez) Ramirez.
Juana met Juan Medina in her hometown. Together, they migrated to the US in 1954, settling in Weslaco, where they raised their family. When they were early married, Juan, Juana, and their family would migrate up north for the summer months. Juan and Juana's determination and resilience served as an inspiration to all who knew them. Despite challenges, they demonstrated unwavering strength and perseverance.
Amidst her demanding lifestyle, Juana skillfully weaved love and care into every aspect of her life. She possessed a remarkable talent for knitting and lovingly crafted clothes for all the children in her family. The warmth of her creations brought comfort and joy to those who wore them.
The beauty of nature also captivated Juana's heart. She had a green thumb and a rose garden that flourished under her tender care. In addition to roses, she had a particular affinity for orchids and Malaysian ginger. Juana enjoyed the serenity and peace that nature had to offer.
Juana was a remarkable homemaker; besides sewing and gardening, she was a great cook. Her tamales and mole were mouthwatering traditions.
One word that genuinely defined Juana was "patient." Throughout her life, she exhibited remarkable patience towards everyone she encountered. No matter the circumstances or challenges, she approached every situation with a calm demeanor and an open heart.
Above all else, Juana will be remembered as a woman whose love knew no bounds. She devoted herself selflessly to her family and friends without ever raising a hand in anger. Her nurturing nature created an environment where love thrived unconditionally.
A devout Catholic, Juana's faith provided guidance and comfort throughout her journey. Her unwavering devotion served as a beacon of light for all who sought solace in times of hardship. She embodied the teachings of compassion, forgiveness, and empathy in every aspect of her life.
