WESLACO - Juanita Buenrostro, 87, of Weslaco, passed away on November 21st, 2016, at the Aurora House in Weslaco. She was born on August 11, 1929 to Perfecto Torres and Maria Pina Torres in Donna, Texas. She met the love of her life, Domingo Buenrostro at a drive thru in Elsa. They were married on December 23, 1952. They enjoyed 62 years of marriage and raised three daughters, Anna, Velma, and Gloria, and one son, Joseph. Juanita was a homemaker, while Domingo worked to support the family. She was a great mother and wife. She was always very religious and made sure that all the children would attend St. Joan of Arc Catholic School until the 7th grade. She and Domingo would pray the rosary with the children every night before bed. She was a great cook, but she and the family always waited for dad to arrive before they would eat dinner. She made sure that the family always had breakfast and dinner together. She also was a great embroiderer and would sew most of the children's clothing. Juanita was very caring. She was always cooking and caring for those in need. She became the care giver for a friend, Julia Winfrey, who did not have family to care for her. The kids grew up calling her grandma Julia. When they had grandkids, Juanita would have food ready for all the grandkids who would arrive at her house after school. Juanita was a loving mom and wife. She and Domingo had a beautiful marriage. They always looked forward to seeing each other and would lovingly call each other, "Honey Bee". She loved her children and grandchildren, but also, her favorite pet, Alley B, a chocolate lab who was her faithful companion. Juanita is preceded in death by her parents, Perfecto Torres and Maria Pina Torres, her husband of 62 years, Domingo, a son Jose Domingo and her brothers, Anastacio, Luis, Simon, and Jesus, and her sister, Carmen. Juanita is survived by three Daughters, Anna Buenrostro of Weslaco, TX, Velma Kennedy (Bruce) of Weslaco, TX, Gloria Negron (Del) of San Antonio, TX; Son, Joseph Buenrostro (Lydia) of Edinburg, TX; four Grandsons, Patrick Kennedy (Sophie), Aaron Negron (Haley), Dominic Negron, and Joseph Ryan Buenrostro; Granddaughters, Elizabeth Sandifer (Cole William), Darissa Buenrostro, five great-grandchildren, Eden Elizabeth, Sadie Helen, Noelle, Cruz and Abram. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 22nd, from 3-9pm with a rosary at 7pm at McCaleb Funeral Home in Weslaco. Funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, November 23rd, 10:00 am at the St. Joan of Arc. Burial will take place in the Weslaco City Cemetery.
