MICHIGAN - Kaitlyn Trinity Herrera, 11, passed away, tragically, on Monday, August 20, 2018, in Michigan. She was born on December 14, 2006, to Gustavo Santana Herrera and Gardenia Hernandez in Weslaco, Texas. Kaitlyn was the third girl, raised with four siblings. She and younger sister, Evelynn, were only 10 months apart and people often thought they were twins. They were very close and Kaitlyn would do anything for Evelynn, or any of her siblings. She cared for her "twin" and looked up to her older sisters. She was full of laughter, love, and smiles. She was not like the other girls, she claimed to be rough and tough and could keep up with all of her male cousins. As much as she was a "tom-boy" at heart, she was beautiful and all smiles. Kaitlyn often would be heard saying, "I'm not a girly girl". She loved to sing and dance, just like her mom. She loved to show off for the camera and even though she had a lisp, it didn't stop her and made her voice that much more unique. She resembled her mom more than all of her siblings. She loved watching scary movies and listening to ghost stories, just like mom. Kaitlyn was very bright and a good student. She was caring and loving, yet strong-willed and driven, like mom. Katilyn is preceded in death by her grandfather, Pedro Hernandez Sr. She passed away the day after her mom, Gardenia Herrera. She is survived by her maternal grandmother, Juana Hernandez, paternal grandparents, Ovidio and Juanita Herrera, father, Gustavo Santana Herrera, sisters, Tiffeny N. Herrera, Arleene L. Herrera, Evelynn L. Herrera, Dominique Herrera and Desiree Herrera, brothers, Joziah E. Aguilera and nieces, Roileen M. Cuellar and Armanie S. Gonzalez, nephew Roy Cuellar III, cousins and best friends: Adrian Valdez, Joshua Mendoza, Mia Moreno, Alexa Moreno, and Anahly Giselle Juarez. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 31st, from 9am-9pm, at McCaleb Funeral Home chapel, with an hour of sharing and prayer taking place at 7 pm. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 1st, at 10 am, at McCaleb Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Sacred Park Cemetery in Mercedes.
