Kenneth George Garver

Weslaco: Kenneth George Garver was born on April 26, 1927 to George Jacob and Jenny Coy Cox Garver in Wichita, Kansas, where he was raised with his sister Patricia. As soon as he graduated from East High School in 1944, he enlisted in the Army Air Corp and served active duty in Germany during WWII. After serving his country, he returned to marry Ardis Louise Burnham, on September 5th, 1948. He and Ardis raised four children together in Wichita, Kansas and would enjoy many years together. They moved to Norwhich, Kansas in 1965 and in 1992 they discovered Weslaco, Texas, where they spent their winters. In 2005, they made Weslaco their permanent home and settled at Trails End where they had made many friends. Kenneth spent most of his career with Cessna Aircraft in Wichita, KS as a Tool and Die worker and later a Tool Services Director, where he retired after 32 years of service. Kenneth and Ardis enjoyed playing cards and dominoes with friends. Kenneth was also a talented craftsman and enjoyed wood working and making stained glass. Kenneth was a devoted and active member of the Lion's Club International for forty three years, during which time, he served in numerous leadership positions from secretary to president, leading numerous projects and events, serving as Lyon's do, in order to improve the community. He was also a faithful member of Grace Presbyterian Church in Wichita, KS and First Presbyterian Church in Weslaco, TX. Kenneth is preceded in death by his parents and his loving wife of 57 years, Ardis Louise Burnham. He is survived by his wife of 8 years , Karen Ann Macking, his children, Ardis Ellen Streit (Ardie) of McPherson, KS, Julie Ann Garver of Beloit, KS, KC Garver of Charleston, SC, and Karen Garver of Joplin, MO. four grandchildren, and eleven great grandchildren, sister Patricia Garver WH Rank of Wichita, Kansas. Dad was a wise and compassionate man who influenced everyone he came in contact with. We will all miss him.
