Weslaco- Kenneth A. Rockwell, a beloved figure in the culinary world and a cherished member of his community, passed away on October 21, 2024, at the John Knox Village Medical Center. Born on May 1941 in St Louis, Missouri, Ken lived a life filled with joy, passion, and creativity, leaving a lasting impression on all who knew him.
Ken's journey in the culinary arts was marked by dedication and talent. After graduating from Solden High School in St. Louis, where he excelled in marching band, he pursued his passion for cooking. After high school, Ken attended Harris Stowe teachers’s college. Throughout his career, Ken owned and managed numerous restaurants, always striving for perfection in his cuisine. His enthusiasm extended beyond his kitchens; he loved tasting his food before it was ready to serve and visiting other establishments to relish their offerings and provide thoughtful critiques. His commitment to culinary excellence was apparent to everyone who had the pleasure of enjoying his dishes.
In addition to his culinary talents, Ken was a gifted musician and dancer. When they met on the dance floor, he found a lifelong partner in his wife, Donna. This shared passion for dancing brought immense joy to their marriage and enriched their lives together. Ken's love for music was evident as he played multiple instruments, including the guitar, keyboard, and accordion. He cultivated his musical talents from a young age, singing in church and sharing his skills with others by teaching children how to play the guitar.
Friends and family will remember Kenneth for his infectious joy and fun-loving demeanor. He was truly a people pleaser with a good heart, always brightening the lives of those around him. His legacy will live on through the memories and hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him, a testament to the warmth and happiness he brought to others.

Kenneth is preceded in death by his parents, Clinton and Isabel (Farr) Rockwell, his brothers, Jim and Gene Rockwell, and his stepson, Chris Bilbro.
He is survived by his loving wife, Donna; his children, Ken Rockwell Jr., Karen Rockwell Fischer, and Diane Rockwell; grandchildren, Emma Reilly, Anna Fischer, Gary Kentch, Matthew Rockwell, Jason Joy; and numerous nieces and nephews.
