SAN ANTONIO - Leonardo Sanchez Jr., 72, passed away on Tuesday, August 21, 2018, at Kindred Hospital in San Antonio, Texas. Leonardo was born on May 30th, 1946 in Weslaco, Texas to Leonardo Sanchez and Amelia Nino. He was raised with his five siblings in Weslaco. His family owned a trucking company and Leo worked for them also as soon as he walked, he was very involved. Leonardo joined the United States Army National Guard of Texas in 1965 and served for the next six years. After being honorably discharged, Leonardo returned to Weslaco to continue growing his family business. He and his father, Leonardo Sr., were a great team and they were the best of friends. Together, they worked to build Sanchez Family Trucking into a successful enterprise. Leonardo married Juanita Aparicio and they raised four children together. Leonardo worked hard to support the family. When he was not working, he loved spending time with his brothers, hunting, and telling his famous stories. Leonardo was a very social guy and a lot of fun to be around. He was a great storyteller and an even better dancer and most people loved to be around him. Leonardo is preceded in death by his parents, Leonardo Sr. and Amelia Sanchez and brother, Eloy Sanchez. He is survived by his children, Leonardo Sanchez IV (Angela) of Weslaco, Michel Como (John) of San Antonio, Fernando Sanchez (Erin) of San Antonio, and Masciel Sanchez of New Braunfels, mother of his children, Juanita Roomsburg, grandchildren, Liana Carolina and Gabriella Sanchez, Erik Emiliano Echevarria, John Matthew Jr. and Mia Valentina Como, sisters Arcilia Rios (Pedro) and Esther Barbosa (Francisco ), brother Rene Sanchez (Anna+), and sister-in-law, Edna Sanchez, all of Weslaco. Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 23rd, from 12-9pm, with a rosary at 7 pm. Mass will be held on Friday, August 24th, at 10 am, St Joan of Arc in Weslaco. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Park.
