Weslaco-Leticia Bailey, 57, passed away at Doctor’s Hospital at Renaissance on Monday, March 8th, 2021. Leticia was born on January 25th, 1964 to Francisco Alvarez and Antonia Cerda Alvarez in Weslaco, Texas. Leticia graduated from Weslaco Highschool in 1982. She went to work at the USDA in Weslaco for the next eight years right out of high school. She also attended Pan American University while working full time. Leticia then was recruited to work for the US Border Patrol in Human Resources for the next thirty years.
Leticia married Randy Bailey on February 22, 1992, and they raised two children together. She always remained very close to her family. Her sister and brothers were her best friends, and she was always very close to her parents. The family got together often throughout their lives. Leticia loved baking and crafting with her family. Her family and friends will always remember holidays for homemade baked goods.
Leticia enjoyed playing board games and completing word puzzles. She enjoyed watching Hockey games with her husband and cheering on her favorite players. She and Randy took lots of road trips together, and Leticia didn’t care where they went. She could always find beauty in nature on their journeys. The beach was one of her favorite destinations, especially if she had her dogs in tow.
Leticia was outgoing, caring, passionate, playful, generous, and understanding. It was no surprise that most people she met became lifelong friends. She never knew a stranger and was always a friend to be counted on. She was also a mother figure to all. She fed and cared for whoever walked through the door.
Leticia was raised Catholic, and her faith was firm. She led by example, showing kindness always. She lived a morally just life, following the example of her parents. She was a source of strength for her family and was also a support to all who needed it.
Leticia is preceded in death by her parents, Francisco and Antonia Alvarez, and brothers, Francisco Alvarez and Ricardo Alvarez.
She is survived by her husband, Randy Bailey, daughters, Lauren Bailey (Carter Copeland) and Elizabeth Bailey of Weslaco, sister, Francis Silva, and brother, Albert Alvarez.
Visitation will be Thursday, 4-9 pm, at McCaleb Funeral Home in Weslaco.
