Weslaco- Lewis Allen Wagoner, a dedicated family man and accomplished professional, passed away on August 19, 2024, at the John Knox Village Health Center. Born March 10, 1931, in Akron, Ohio, to Herb and Cora (Kleeman) Wagoner, Lewis lived a life marked by service, commitment, and a passion for learning.

His career began in his father’s company as a boilermaker welder. In 1951, he was called to serve his country in the U.S. Air Force, where he trained and became an Air Traffic Controller. That same year, Lewis married and welcomed two beloved sons, Mark and Richard, into the world. After his honorable discharge, he returned to his trade as a boilermaker until 1958, when he seized a new opportunity with the FAA in Cleveland. Lewis attended FAA school in Oklahoma City, graduating to proudly serve as an Air Traffic Controller in Cleveland until 1960.

Following this, Lewis returned to the construction field and became a journeyman boilermaker for the Local 722 Boilermakers Union in Cleveland. He dedicated himself to this profession until his retirement in 1991. His career reflects his skills and unwavering commitment to work and the aviation community.

Beyond his professional achievements, Lewis cherished his personal life. He remarried in 1967 to Barbara, and together they established a home in Bath, Ohio. His commitment to his community was evident as he joined the Bath Fire Department, serving as a volunteer fireman and emergency medical technician for nearly nine years. The couple later moved to Fairlawn in 1986, where they enjoyed their life together for the next decade.

Lewis pursued various interests and hobbies throughout his life, reflecting his diverse nature. He held a pilot's license, enjoyed computing, and found great pleasure in metal detecting, amateur radio, bird watching, and reading. These pastimes highlighted his ability to blend work and play, showcasing his curiosity and zest for life.

Lewis is preceded in death by his parents, Herb Wagoner and Cora Stahl, and his wife, Barbara.

He is survived by his sons, Mark Wagoner(Marie) and Richard Wagoner; his granddaughter Melissa Wagoner; and his stepchildren, Kent Graham, Eric Cunningham, Scott Cunningham, Jan Graham, and Catherine Cunningham.

Lewis Allen Wagoner will be remembered as a loving father, devoted husband, and respected community member. His legacy of service, both in his professional career and community volunteerism, will continue to inspire those who knew him.

A celebration of life will be held in Ohio. Arrangements will be updated at a later date.
