WESLACO - Lieutenant Felipe Luna Jr. with Weslaco Fire Department, 56, passed away on Friday, September 27, 2019, at Knapp Medical Center in Weslaco.
Felipe grew up in Weslaco and graduated from Weslaco High in 1981. He was passionate about helping others and went straight into the Fire Academy in Harlingen. Lt. Felipe would serve the Weslaco area as a firefighter and EMT for the next thirty-five years, retiring only a few years ago. Lt. Luna was an instrumental part of making the Weslaco Fire Departments one of the best in the Valley. He gave selfless service and saved many lives during his career at the Weslaco Fire Department.
Lt. Luna loved football and was a Dallas Cowboy fan. He enjoyed a good barbecue and spending time with friends and family. Felipe was a great cook. He was famous for his homemade tamales every year during Christmas.
Lt. Luna enjoyed gardening, fishing, and spending time outdoors. He was a devoted husband, father, and brother.
He is survived by his loving wife, Belen, daughters, Diana and Ana Maria Luna, his brother Juan Luna, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
