Lisa Cherie Ochsenfeld, born on January 13, 1980, in Hampton, Virginia, bid farewell to the world on June 15, 2024, in Weslaco. She leaves behind a legacy of love, hard work, and creativity that will forever be cherished by those who had the privilege of knowing her.
Lisa's formative years were filled with the playful antics of her two older brothers, Peter and James. They often found joy in teasing her, a dynamic that was a mix of sibling rivalry and light-hearted pranks. Yet, Lisa's affection for her brothers was unwavering, a testament to her deep-rooted love and respect for family.
Lisa's caring nature and sentimental spirit touched the lives of many, especially her family and friends. She treasured a security blanket crafted by her great-grandmother, "Nanny," holding onto it until it was merely shredded out of love and nostalgia. Despite being the only girl surrounded by older brothers, Lisa embraced her femininity through her passion for Barbie Dolls, playing house, and all things girly, always sharing these moments with her loved ones.
At a young age, Lisa put her faith in Jesus Christ and was baptized at Bethel Temple, finding joy in the worship, particularly the music. Lisa's love for singing and dancing was a testament to her vibrant spirit and deep connection to her faith.
As an adult, Lisa earned a certificate as a Phlebotomist while living in Florida. She enjoyed her career in phlebotomy, and her care and compassion have touched the lives of many patients.
Even though Lisa was a night owl, working in construction motivated her to be up early to work with her father at PNO Construction, Sun Rock, and OWCM.
Lisa was known for rolling up her sleeves and getting involved in every aspect of the family business - from laying floors to carpentry - showcasing her hands-on approach, probably a characteristic born from being raised with her rough and tough brothers. Lisa's hobbies and passions vividly depicted a vibrant soul with a deep appreciation for artistry and furry companions. An ardent animal lover with a particular fondness for Huskies and part wolf, like Ace - distinguished by one blue eye and one brown - she also adored cats and rabbits. Her artistic talents extended beyond boundaries as she delved into crafting, jeweling (Diamond Art), painting, and various other creative endeavors that showcased her boundless imagination and skill.
Lisa was very outgoing but humble. She would prefer to celebrate someone's victories than draw attention to herself. Lisa was an encourager and was so proud of her kids. She celebrated every victory and birthday with them, but more importantly, she struggled when her kids did. Lisa's greatest wish was for her children to find happiness in whatever they do.
Lisa is preceded in death by her father, Peter Nathan Ochsenfeld. She is survived by her grandmother, Anne E. South of Virginia; her mom, Brenda "Faye" Ochsenfeld of Weslaco; her children, William J. Nichols of Oklahoma, Jack Bushard Jr., of Florida, Jessie Nichols, Francisco Acevedo, and Isabella Acevedo, all of Weslaco, brothers Peter M. Ochsenfeld of Virginia and James A. Ochsenfeld of Georgia, and one granddaughter, Issadora Nichols of Oklahoma.
