WESLACO - Lois J. McTaggart, 81 of Weslaco Texas went home to be with the Lord on March 25th at 1:30 pm. Lois was born on October 18, 1935 in Detroit MI to John and & Ester Longridge. Lois grew up in Detroit, MI. After school she went on to become an RN taking her state board test on her 21st birthday. Lois worked in Detroit Hospital during the riots. Later in her career she then moved to Weslaco during the winter months and started working for Knapp Medical Center. Lois retired from nursing in 2012. After starting her RN career Lois married Frank McTaggart and they made their home in Livonia. Their passion was traveling and being outdoors, skiing, running, and swimming. Lois loved sharing the outdoors with her grandchildren and children even teaching them how to swim and identify birds and flowers - especially cardinals. Lois was a caring compassionate person, enjoyed helping and taking care of others. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Weslaco - where she loved singing in the choir and playing the bells. Lois was a loving mother and grandmother. She enjoyed being around her family - she was blessed with three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Her granddaughter Joanne McTaggart of Edinburg grew up with her. Lois would spend weekends with her great grandsons, Ethan & Jose, taking them to church and doing nature walks with them. She was proud of her grandchildren on their goals and careers in life and looking forward to graduation with the great-grandchildren and will still be attending as their guardian angel. Lois was proceeded in death by her husband, Frank, parents, and a nephew. Lois is survived by children, Kathleen McTaggart (Rusty West) of New Mexico, Frank Jr. McTaggart (Cindy) of Wayne, MI, Paul McTaggart of Mackinaw City,MI, her sister Myra (Ben) Stutler of St. Clair Mi, grandchildren: Ryan McTaggart of Texas and the world, Marie (Leo) Spradlin of KY and Joanne McTaggart (Jose Rangel) of Texas. Great grand children, Caden Trent, Ethan D. Paul, Jose Juan, Jolissa Sue, of Texas, Natasha McTaggart and Hunter Spradlin of KY. Her sister-in-law and traveling companion Lois E. McTaggart of Novi, MI, long-time friends Lana Marie of TX, Beatrice & Rudy of TX and the many friends she made in her journey through this life. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, March 28th, 10am at First Baptist Church in Weslaco. Funeral arrangements are under the care of McCaleb Funeral Home of Weslaco.
