WESLACO - Luis Marquez Castellanos was born in Los Angeles California to Natividad Castellanos and Maria del Refugio Marquez on August 19, 1924. Luis was a truck driver all his life until he had a stroke in 1999. He worked for John Eberle of Elsa, driving a dump truck throughout the Valley. He loved watching Fox News and the Weather Channel. To the end, his mind was sharp, but his body was tired. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Amanda Ramos Castellanos, and three children born of this marriage: Ray (Toni Marie) of Cascade Montana; Roy (Beatrice) of Elsa, TX and Sandra Cantu (Danny) of Corpus Christi, TX. He is also survived by his eldest grandson, Mark Anthony Castellanos of Elsa, whom, he and his wife raised since the age of 1, a half-brother, Nati Castellanos, eight grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Eduardo, Manuel and Ernesto; his sister Consuelo, Elvira and Juanita, and one great-great-grandchild, Zayden Martinez. Special thanks to his niece Stella Castellanos of McAllen who would visit weekly. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 23, 2016 from 12pm to 9pm with a 7pm Rosary at McCaleb Funeral Home in Weslaco. Funeral Mass will be 10am on Saturday, September 24, 2014 at Sacred Heart Church in Elsa with burial to follow at Highland Memorial Park in Weslaco. Funeral arrangements are under the care of McCaleb Funeral Home of Weslaco.
