WESLACO - Luis Maldonado Gonzalez, 91 years old passed away Wednesday, May 27th 2015 at his home in Weslaco, Texas. He was born on February 18, 1924 in Toluca, Mexico to Luis & Soledad Gonzalez (Deceased) and sisters Mercedes Gonzalez (Deceased) and Ana Gonzalez.

Luis married the love of his life, Esperanza Jasso in Reynosa, Tamp. on July 15, 1949.

Daddy worked picking cotton, tomatoes, etc.; then he was tailor for many years at White Cleaners in Weslaco. He worked with South Texas MHR in Mercedes as a janitor and retired with the Weslaco ISD after working for over twelve years as a maintenance worker at Roosevelt Elementary.

Luis enjoyed dancing, listening to classical Mexican music like Los Panchos, Augustin Lara and Vicki Carr. He loved pets and enjoyed working with his hands and tools. For many years, Luis renovated and maintained the rental properties that he and his wife owned.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Luis & Soledad Gonzalez, his sister, Mercedes Gonzalez and his daughter Estella Grant, son-in-law Guadalupe Estrada and great grandchild John Paul Jr.

He is survived by loving wife of 66 six years, Esperanza and his children; Edward Argueta (wife Janie and their children David and Eric), Juan Gonzalez (wife Hilda and their children Carlos, Daniel, Javier and Christopher), Hope Duran (husband Ezequiel and their children James and Selina), Jose Luis Gonzalez (wife Sara and children Vanessa, Omar, Jonathan, Adam and Emilia), Rose (husband Roman and their children Rheana and Ryan), Enrique (wife Anna and children Jennifer, Erin, John Paul, Rick, Mathew and Karina), Kristina (child Alexandria Soledad), Elizabette and grandchildren Laura Hernandez and Rene Estrada. Great grandchildren include Carys and Ardyn Argueta, Camille and Emery Arqueta, Jacob and Michael Gonzalez, Rogerio Hernandez, Benjamin Estrada, Rhian Amaya Butler, Damian Cruz, Rick Xavier Gonzalez, Joseph Nathaniel Gonzalez, and Ariana Mia Gonzalez. He is also survived by his sister, Ana Gonzalez of Toluca, Mexico.

A viewing will take place on Friday, May 29, 2015 from 5pm to 9pm with a 7pm rosary at McCaleb Funeral Home in Weslaco. Funeral Mass is set for Saturday, May 30, 2015, 10am at St. Joan of Arc in Weslaco.
