Weslaco - Luisa Bustos-Guajardo was born on October 15, 1944, in Weslaco, Texas to Felix Bustos and Ignacia Rodriguez in Weslaco, Texas. Growing up, she had two sisters and one brother. As a young woman, Luisa worked hard as a migrant farmworker and a housekeeper at Knapp Medical Center in Weslaco.
Later, Luisa met and married Reynaldo Guajardo. She then dedicated her life to her family and home as she raised three sons and two daughters: Richard, Neftali, Juan Jose, Macaria, and Criselda. Luisa was a loving, caring, and selfless mother. She watched her beautiful children become successful adults who raised their families. Luisa became a grandma and even a great-grandma. All the while, Luisa shared her wisdom, happiness, and humor with anyone she encountered. Luisa enjoyed baking, gardening, and shopping at Ross. She also loved Elvis and accurately predicting the weather.
As a devout Catholic, Luisa demonstrated her faith by pouring into others as Christ poured into her. Luisa impacted and touched the lives of many throughout her life. The greatest gift she gave to us was her love. She will always remain with us in our hearts.
