Lynda Todd

January 21, 1947 — February 12, 2018

WESLACO - Jesus called Lynda G Todd, 71, home on Monday, February 12th, 2018. Lynda was born on January 21, 1947, to Richard and Lois Gray in Jamestown, New York. Lynda moved to Weslaco at a young age and as a teen attended high school at Incarnate Word and Knox School for Girls in Long Island, New York. When Lynda was a young adult, she was helping her grandparents at their family business, Moore Airfield, when a group of young soldiers happened to be in town for training. One of the men was Raymond Todd from Colorado and they fell in love "APO" (Air Postal Oversees), as Lynda would often fondly refer to their romance. Roy went back to work serving our country but continued to correspond with his new love, sending her love letters while he was in Vietnam. The first chance he had, Roy came to visit Lynda in Weslaco. They drove to San Antonio, where Roy proposed at Fort Sam Houston Chapel Number one. Lynda and Raymond were married on February 14th, 1967 at St Pius X Catholic Church in Weslaco and spent the next fifty-one years together. They started their family soon after, raising a son, Richard, and daughter, Loanne in Weslaco. Lynda and Roy attended mass regularly, and she was very active in her church and serving the Lord. She was involved in the Saint Michaels Cenacle prayer group at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Weslaco and Pioneers Jubilee Woman's Club in Lake City, Colorado. Lynda led a life with a calling and truly lived the Corporal Works of Mercy in her daily life serving relentlessly in every area where there was a need. When Richard and Loanne were little, she and Roy opened a clinic in Nuevo Progresso, providing medical care to those who were less fortunate. She fed the hungry and gave drinks to the thirsty. Many people and their families remember Lynda visiting them when they were sick. If Lynda saw a need, she was quick to do everything she could to lend a hand. She was a friend to all and never hesitated to take the time to listen to others; she never saw a problem too great or small always valuing others and their bonds created in life. When Lynda was not serving others, she was an entrepreneur and worked in real estate. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, and grandmother and enjoyed hosting events for her church, family, and friends. Lynda was a great cook and enjoyed pleasing her family with her hard work and talent in the kitchen. Some of her most remembered dishes were prime rib, king crab, shrimp scampi and lasagna; She knew a way to warm many hearts was a great meal. Lynda is preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Lois Caroline Gray, her father and mother in law, Colonel Raymond P and Anne Todd RN. and sister in law, Lois Anne Todd. She is survived by her loving husband of fifty-one years, Raymond "Roy" Todd, her brother, Mel Christian Gray of Austin and his family, son Richard Todd of Dallas, Lois "Loanne" Bauer and her husband, James of Weslaco, grandchildren, Raymond Michael and Ryan Patrick Todd, Lynda Joy Werline, Christian Raymond Werline and his fiance, Rebecca Salinas, Elizabeth Marie Bauer, and Caroline AnaSophia Bauer. Lynda will always be remembered for her beautiful smile and caring heart. Her wit and sense of humor were keen and she brought so many smiles and happiness into the lives of others. She recognized God's true purpose for her life and lived this purpose to her fullest capabilities, serving others her entire life and living as a true leader and example to her children and all her path.
