Donna-Macaria Cavazos de Gonzalez, 76, passed away on Friday, December 4th, 2020 at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen. Macaria was born on March 10, 1944 to Abelardo Cavazos and Natividad Treviño in Tamaulipas, Mexico.
Macaria enjoyed decorating and collecting all kinds of exciting paintings and pictures. She also had a knack for interior design, and she loved to shop, so it was a natural combination. Macaria bought gifts for everyone during her shopping excursions, especially her children and grandchildren. Macaria loved to celebrate birthdays and had a way of making every birthday special. She was an excellent homemaker, learning how to make delicious Puerto Rican food after she married Leonardo, who was from Puerto Rico.
Macaria had a strong Christian faith and prayed often. She was kind, caring, loving, and a beautiful mom.
Macaria is preceded in death by her parents, Abelardo Cavazos and Natividad Treviño , husband, Lilo Gonzalez, brother, Juan Cavazos, sister, Esperanza Cavazos, son, Isidro Valdez, and granddaughters, Yolanda Mejia, Cesar Mejia, and Dezerae Rendon.
She is survived by her children, Manuela Mejia (Miguel) of Lakeland, Florida, Amada Morales (Fermin) of Weslaco, Irma Medina (Jacinto) of Weslaco, Jaime Valdez (Gladys) of Donna, Paula Roque (Jose Jaime) of Mercedes, and Maria Lopez (Rito) of Donna, step-daughter Gail Gonzalez, brother Abelardo Cavazos (Josefa) of Santa Rosa, grandchildren, Jaqueline Lopez, Leslie Parilla (Jonathan), Kenia Lopez, Edith Mejia (Adan), Rolando Mejia (Rosa), Daniela Mejia, Michelle Mejia, Cesar Morales (Ana Gabriel), Fermin Morales Jr. (Ruby Alvarado), Gloria Rendon (Isaac), Marco A. Medina, Marisol Medina, Alexis Medina, Destiny Medina, Brandy Valdez, Brandon Valdez, Xavier Valdez, and Ethan Valdez, Brenda Roque, Maribel Machorro (Christopher), Jose Jaime Roque Jr., Samuel Roque, and Janie Roque, great-grandchildren, Samantha Parilla, Vanessa Mejia (Alvaro), Jadiel Rivas, Jakob and Jayce Mejia, Miriam, Delilah, Gabriel, and Mason Morales, Mia and Ittzayanna Mejia, Amy, and Alberto Salazar, Gabriel, Isaiah, and Alondra Rendon, Ximena, and Aiden Jay Roque.
Visitation will be Tuesday, December 8th, 10 am-9 pm, at McCaleb Funeral Home in Weslaco. A celebration of life will be Wednesday, December 9th, at 10 am at McCaleb Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Park in Weslaco.
