WESLACO - Manuel Alvarez Sr., 49, entered his eternal resting place on Monday, February 17, 2020. He was born in Donna, Texas, to Francisco Sr. and Juana Navarro Alvarez on April 30, 1970.
Manuel was the eldest son of eight children and grew up in Donna and migrated with his family, where he learned the value of a day's work. He was always looking out for his brothers and sisters when they were young and even as they grew up. Manuel was very family-oriented, visiting with his parents almost every day. He called his siblings often, sometimes in the middle of the night, just to make sure they were okay. Manuel was very close to his extended family in Rio Grande, Zacatecas, Mexico. He visited them often and embraced the unique culture that was so important to him.
Manuel loved gardening and spending time outdoors. He raised all kinds of animals and even tried dog-breeding for a while. He also enjoyed fishing. Manuel was always the best cook in the family and loved sharing his talent for creating unique dishes. He invited his family and friends over often and made sure they didn't leave hungry.
His witty sense will mostly remember Manuel of humor. He was a lot of fun and could light up a room. Those who knew Manuel never remember him being angry. He was light-hearted and took every situation in stride, always seeing the positive. If you needed a good laugh or a new joke, Manuel was ready.
