Marcelene Cassity Brownell passed away peacefully on April 15, 2021, at her home in Harlingen, Texas surrounded by her family. She was born on November 12, 1936, in Middletown, Ohio to Otis Cassity and Golda Mae (McGuire) Cassity.
She married the love of her life, Lowell Thomas Brownell, in 1956 in Cliftonville, County of Kent, England. Together they raised their two children, D’Anne Brownell Anderson and Thomas Michael Brownell in Richardson, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Dolores Cassity Coates and her brother Michael Edward Cassity. She is survived by her beloved husband of 65 years, Lowell Thomas Brownell, and their children, D’Anne Brownell Anderson and her husband Steven of Houston, Texas, and Thomas Michael Brownell and his wife Meredith of Harlingen, Texas. She is also survived by her brother Danny Cassity and his wife Sharon of St. Augustine, Florida and her beloved grandchildren, Emily Clare Anderson and Steven Lawton Anderson, Jr. of Houston, Texas, Mallory Anne Brownell of Lexington, Kentucky and Walton Wyatt Brownell of Harlingen, Texas – the joys of her life who lovingly called her Nena.
The family wishes to thank Norma Cavazos and Dr. Suja Perakathu for their devoted and loving care.
The family will gather for a private service to celebrate the life of Marcelene (Marcy) at a later date. In lieu of customary remembrances, memorial contributions can be made to Special Olympics Texas – Rio Grande Valley, 109 N. Border Avenue, P.O. Box 1153, Weslaco, Texas 78599, or the charity of your choice.
