Margaret Virginia Eoff Harbison, died Friday, May 1, 2015 at John Knox Village in Weslaco, Texas.
Margaret was born October 29, 1928 in Garland, Ark. To Martha Catherine Edgmon and Sidney Robert Eoff.
Visitation will be Monday evening, May 4, 2015 beginning at 5:00 pm at McCaleb Funeral Home in Weslaco, Texas.
The services will be held at McCaleb funeral Home on Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at 2:00 pm.
She will be interred beside her husband at Highland Memorial Park in Weslaco, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Roy Harbison, her parents, siblings, and one much loved granddaughter.
Margaret is survived by her children, Jim (Marilyn) Harbison, John Harbison, Vicky Whittle, Rick (Evon) Harbison, and Randy (Janet) Harbison and her many cherished grandchildren, great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren, her brother, Therman (Audrey) Eoff and , her sister, Martha Eoff (George) Nesloney.
While Margaret was in High School, she worked part time at the hospital, nursing. After graduation, she met and married the love of her life, Lee Roy, who was honorably discharged from the US Navy. They were wed April, 28, 1947. Margaret died on the third day after what “would have been” their 68th wedding anniversary.
As newlyweds, they moved to the country where Lee Roy took up farming, and she became a farmer’s wife, giving birth to their children and taking on the chores of a farmer’s wife.
After their children were raised, they retired, giving up farming and freely giving of themselves to a Boys Ranch, He teaching the boys to farm & ranch & she as a house mother, later moving to Sequin, Smiley and then Beeville, where that lived for 25 years, making many friends. Their friends in the First Baptist Church, Beeville, were dear to them.
Five years ago, after Lee Roy’s death, Margaret moved into John Knox Village in Weslaco.
Margaret’s joy was her children and grandchildren. She loved each and every one.
