Weslaco: Margarita Heredia, 97, passed away on Wednesday, December 23, 2020, at her home in Weslaco. Margarita was born on October 17, 1923, to Manuel Gonzales and Maria de Los Angeles Gonzales in Sebastian, Texas.
Margarita married Gilberto Heredia, and they raised seven children together in Pueblo Nuevo, Cadereyta Nuevo Leon. Margarita was an animal lover and always had special dogs, cats, and birds. She would feed any stray cat that came around. Margarita loved working in her yard and enjoyed the outdoors. She also enjoyed walking and walked to her daughter's home several times a day.
Margarita was a shop till you drop kind of person. She loved shopping at JCPenney, Bealls, and TJ MAXX. She had lots of energy, and her favorite place to stop and eat was Luby's. Margarita loved watching novelas when she wanted to relax.
Margarita was a woman of faith, and her church was an essential part of her life. She faithfully gave of her time and gifts at Iglesia Cristiana Bethel for many years.
Margarita is preceded in death by her parents, Manuel and Maria Gonzales, husband, Gilberto Heredia, and son, Manuel Heredia.
She is also survived by one sister: Olivia Hernandez of Weslaco.
She is survived by her children: Ofelia Ceballos (Amador) of Weslaco, Maria de la Luz Molina (Victor) of Wisconsin, Gilberto Heredia Jr. (Eva) of Weslaco, Margarita Bullock (Jeff Bullock) of Dallas, Lionel Heredia of San Antonio, and Maria (Jose) of Weslaco, 15 grandchildren, Sandra Luna (Eliuth), Yesenia Reyes (Juan T), Natalie Cortez (Oscar), Elizabeth Martinez, Diana Martinez, Jose Martinez (Dawn), Leslie Esqueda (William) Leroy Heredia (Beth), Gilberto Heredia Jr. (Jessica), Victor Molina Jr., Vanessa Oseguera (Almicar), Angela Perez (Josue), Veronica Heredia, Manuel Heredia Jr. (Indira), and Erica Heredia, 25 Great-grandchildren, Lylah, Liliana, Leah, Oscar Jr., and Marcos Amador Cortez, Nolan, Olivia, and David Martinez, Leighton Heredia, Justin, and Jaxson Heredia, Reynol, Jose, and Gael Limon, Brissa and Kaeli Heredia, Ariel, Kimberly, and Manuel Rodriguez, Maya and Victoria, Rubyt, Josue Jr, Jason, Yareli Perez, 2 Great Great Grandchildren Ximena, and Isabella Perez
Visitation will be December 25, 2020, at McCaleb Funeral Home from 10 am-9 pm. Funeral services will be Saturday, December 26, 2020, at 10 am, at McCaleb Funeral Home, officiated by Rev. Miguel Escamilla, followed by burial at Highland Memorial Park. Serving as pallbearers will be Gilberto Heredia Jr., Juan T Reyes, Oscar Cortez, Amador Ceballos Jr, Gilberto Heredia III, and Jose Martinez.
