Maria Elda Camacho

Weslaco- Maria Elda Camacho, 60, passed away on Tuesday, July 14, 2020, at her home in Weslaco. Maria was born on December 24, 1959, to Aristeo Camacho and Avelina Ontiveros in Weslaco, Texas. She grew up in Weslaco with her five siblings. After graduating from Weslaco High School, Maria went to Texas State Technical College.

Maria was a single mom and raised her only daughter, Greg, working as a substitute teacher in Weslaco. She loved her job and working with students. Maria also loved spending time with family and friends. Sometimes they would play chalupa all for hours. She and her grandchildren would play board games, and Maria would help them bake all kinds of treats.

Maria loved going to the adult daycare and being around her friends. She was always very supportive of Greg and helped her raise her children.

Maria is preceded in death by her parents, Aristeo and Avelina Camacho and sister, Cresencia Camacho.

She is survived by her daughter, Greg Villegas (Jose) of Weslaco, grandchildren, Isaiah Espinoza, Julyssa Espinoza, Matthew Espinoza, and Jose Villegas Jr., brothers, David Camacho, Israel Camacho (Sara), Noe Camacho, sister, Noemi Zuniga (Juan+).

Visitation will be Monday, July 20th, 9 am-9 pm, with a rosary at 7 pm. Funeral service will be Tuesday, July 21, at McCaleb Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Park.
