Maria Isabel De la Garza

Edinburg- Isabel De la Garza, 55, passed away in a tragic car accident on Thursday, August 9th, 2018. She was born on June 3, 1963, to Amador De la Garza and Mercedez Sanchez in Matamoros, Mexico. She came to the United States when she was only eight years old. She met the father of her four children in a TV production class at PSJA high school. They were married shortly after high school, in 1984, and raised four children, Marci Lou, Jeanna Yvette, Ruben, and Isabel. Isabel continued her education and became a nurses assistant, which was a perfect career because she enjoyed caring for people. She spent the last 12 years at Doctor's Hospital. When she was not working, she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and friends. singing karaoke, and watching movies. She was a "cool mom", enjoying concerts with her children and family cookouts. Isabel was also very close to her Lord and Savior, spending a lot of her time praying and reading the Bible. Isabel passed away with her daughter, Marci, and her grandson, Joshua. She is also preceded in death by her mom, Mercedez Sanchez. She is survived by her father, Amador De la Garza, children, Jeanna Yvetter Guajardo, Ruben Guajardo, and Isabel Guajardo, her grandchildren, James Ethan Powell, Darren Bryce Powel, Kenneth Brent Powell, and Shawn Corona, son in law, Aaron Powell and father of her children, Ruben Guajardo Jr. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 15th, from 9am-9pm, with a prayer service and hour of sharing at 7 pm. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 16th, at McCaleb Funeral Home Chapel, at 2pm with burial to follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Edinburg.
