Maria Luisa Rodriguez

Donna- Maria Luis Rodriguez, 76, passed away on Monday, September 5, 2022, at DHR in Edinburg. Maria was born on January 23, 1946, to Luis and Viola (Perez) Cortez in Donna, Texas. Maria raised three children, who were her everything, before the grandchildren. Maria’s family was her life, and she enjoyed spending every minute possible with her family.

Maria was also very artistic and loved to paint and draw. She also enjoyed crossword puzzles and always had a puzzle book nearby. Maria was a great mom and never let her kids down. She had a positive outlook on life and always stayed strong for her children and grandchildren.

Maria was a faithful Catholic woman and brought her kids up in the same faith, attending regular mass at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Donna.

Maria is preceded in death by her parents, Luis and Viola Cortez, brother, Oscar Cortez, and sister, Rafaela Guajardo.

She is survived by her daughter, Norma Rodriguez, sons, Oscar Rodriguez (Melissa) and Refugio Rodriguez Jr. (Mari), sisters, Irma Pardon (Benny), Frances Sosa (Raul Sr.), and Catalina Reyna, grandchildren, Julie Marie Rodriguez (Julio), Omar Rodriguez, and Juan Carlos Rodriguez, great-grandchildren, Alexandra, Penelope, and Mary Jane Rodriguez, and numerous nieces and nephews.
