Maria Rosalba Silguero de Rodriguez

Mercedes- Maria R Rodriguez, 82, passed away on Friday, June 10, 2016. Maria was born on March 27th, 1934 to Daniel and Maria Silguero, in Matamoros, Mexico. She had 7 brothers and sisters. She would marry the love of her life, Macario as a teenager and they would enjoy a full life and over 65 years of marriage. Maria and Macario moved to Mercedes in the late 60s and they would migrate to Minnesota for most of their lives, teaching their children by example to work hard and have pride in their work. They would have seven children, Miguel, Juan, Macario Jr., Eloy, Joel, Irma and Idalia. Maria was a great homemaker and was a tough woman who could raise her kids, cook, clean, and work in the fields. Her favorite pastime and way to relax to sew. She would sew her own clothes and clothes for the kids, she would sew pillow cases and blankets and she also loved stitching. Maria also loved working in the garden and enjoying the fruits of her labor. She loved to watch her "novelas". Maria was a great mother, grandmother, aunt, sister and friend, but she will most be remembered by her fun loving spirit. She loved to listen to music and be the life of the party. Maria is preceded in death by her parents, Daniel and Maria Silguero and her sister, Maria Juanita Silguero. Maria is survived by her husband, Macario Rodriguez, her brothers, Enrique Silguero, Daniel Silguero, Luis Silguero, and Pepe Silguero, her sister, Blanca Garcia, her children, Miguel Rodriguez (Gloria), of Minnesota, Juan Rodriguez (Dora), Macario Jr. Rodriguez (Veronica), Eloy Rodriguez, and Joel Rodriguez, Irma Garcia (Jose), and Idalia Rubio, all of Mercedes and Progreso, her 24 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces. Mass will be held on Monday, June 13th, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Mercedes. Burial will follow at Sacred Park Cemetery in Mercedes. Serving as pallbearers will be her grandchildren, Roberto Rodriguez, Jose Garcia Jr., Eloy Rodriguez Jr., Heriberto Garcia, Juan Garcia, and Rolando Martinez.
