Marina Muñoz, 80, passed away at her home in Mercedes on Saturday, November 5th, 2022. Marina was born on November 1st. 1942 to Santiago and Dolores (Carillo) Garcia in Jalisco, Mexico. Marina married Refugio Muñoz and moved to Mercedes in 1980, where they spent the rest of their lives.
Marina was able to travel and see the world in her younger years. She was a great homemaker. Marina’s house was always kept immaculately clean. She had a green thumb, and her garden was always maintained and beautiful. Marina’s cooking was the best; she used fresh herbs, fruits, and vegetables she grew herself.
Marina was a selfless woman who always placed others' needs ahead of hers. Her kindness and gentleness were a welcome warmth to any room. Marina was strong and courageous and fought her illness until the end.
Most importantly, Marina was a woman of faith who believed in God. She read her Bible daily and enjoyed attending the nearby church.
Marina is preceded in death by her parents, Santiago and Dolores Garcia, and husband, Refugio Munoz.
She is survived by her daughter, Olga Lydia de la Cruz (Marcelino Contreras); her grandchildren, Elizabeth de la Cruz (Edgar Aguilar), Perla Christina Cordova (Guillermo), and Cesar Omar de la Cruz (Giselle Marquez), her great-grandchildren, Lizbeth Aguilar, Alexandra Aguilar, Jackeline Aguilar, Edgar Aguilar Jr, Maxine Cordova, Guillermo Cordova III, Ethan Cordova, Samantha Cordova, Kaytyln Cordova, Aubrey, Akston Omar, and Averlyn de la Cruz, great-great-grandchildren, Grecia and Gian Gaytan, and Axael Vasquez.
Visitation will be Wednesday, November 9th, 12pm-9 pm, with a rosary at 6 pm and a prayer service at 7 pm. There will be a graveside service at 11 am on Thursday, November 10th, at Sacred Park Cemetery in Mercedes. The family will be leaving McCaleb Funeral Home in procession at 10:40 am.
