Martin Herrera

January 22, 1966 — April 9, 2016

Weslaco, Texas – Martin Herrera, 50, passed away April 9, 2016 at McAllen Medical Center.

“Who Loves You” “Love You More” These were some of Martin’s favorite sayings he was known for.

He is God’s son first and foremost. A gift from God to Obidio Herrera† and Margarita Herrera. A husband to Maria Hermelinda Herrera for 28 years. Loving father to Martin O. Herrera (married to Rosie Herrera) age 27, Lorena Garza (married to Luis A. Garza) age 25, and April Herrera age 22. Grandfather to Josh Herrera age 8, and MaKayla Herrera age 3, and Logan Garza age 4. Brother to Juan Herrera (Diana), Pablo Herrera (Angie), Petra Garza (Armando) Patricia Dominguez (Juan), Rolando Herrera and Maggie Herrera. Tio and friend to many.

It is not a loss, but a time to rejoice and give all the Honor and all the Glory to God that Martin is worthy to join him in Heaven. Following his father’s footsteps he was a carpenter by trade. He also enjoyed dove hunting with his family. Many of us that knew him well will always cherish our memories with him.

He had so much confidence and so much courage to always say what he thought no matter what it was.

Our favorite times were seeing him cruise by in his famous little red truck. As soon as he saw you his hand would wave out the window with a peace sign salutation.

You always knew if Martin had visited because you would find traces he had been there. If you got a visit you know what we mean. In addition to always having $5 bucks for “his” happy meal. His life wasn’t easy by any means but he was strong and a hard worker. He made sure his family had what they needed at all cost.

While his passing was sudden and our heart aches, he is finally home. We laugh because Martin wasn’t fond of fishing but now that he is with Dad a fishing he must go. Rest easy Martin, for you will be missed but never forgotten.
