Martina Lozoya

August 31, 1959 — November 11, 2020

Martina Lozoya, 61, passed away suddenly on November 11th, 2020, at Valley Baptist in Harlingen. Martina was born on August 31st, 1959, to German Esquivel and Francisca Vela Esquivel in Mercedes, TX. She was the first born of ten (10) siblings.

Martina graduated from Weslaco High School and continued her education, earning an Associates Degree in medical field.

Martina met her soulmate, Jose Lozoya, at a family party in Mexico when she was a teenager. They were married in 1979 and raised four children in Mercedes, Texas.

Martina worked in the medical field for a few years, but Jose worked very hard so Martina could be a homemaker. Martina took her job seriously and was the best homemaker anyone would ever want. Her food was always homemade and fresh, and Martina made certain that Jose's clothes were pressed perfectly, always with one crease.

When Martina and Jose had time off, they enjoyed spending time traveling together. They visited Las Vegas, Louisiana, and anywhere Martina could try her luck on the slot machines. Jose just enjoyed being by her side. Martina also loved to play bingo and lotteria, and she was surprisingly fortunate.

Martina was a strong woman, persevering, extremely caring, loving, and special. She was devoted to her Christian Faith and always believed in her Lord and Savior.

Martina is preceded in death by her parents, German and Francisca Esquivel, and her sister, Francisca Perez.

She is survived by her loving husband of over forty years, Jose,

Their children, Criselda Rangel (Luis), Frank Lozoya (Cynthia), Jose Lozoya (Nancy), Juan Carlos Lozoya, Her grandchildren, (Frank) Alejandro, Lucero, Andrea, Joshua, and Javier Lozoya, (Jose) Jr., Jada, Paulina, and Angel Lozoya, (Criselda) Sheyla, Luis Jr., America, and Omar Rangel,
sisters, Esmeralda Serrato, Oralia Martinez, Felicitas Esquivel, Maria Garnica, brothers, Reynaldo Esquivel, German Esquivel, and Guadalupe Esquivel.
