Mary E. Adams of Weslaco, TX, age 99, passed away on March 20, 2016. She was a resident of Siesta Retirement Village for many years and a resident at John Knox Village the past 18 years. She was born in St. Cloud, Minnesota on December 14, 1916. She attended Saint Cloud Teacher’s College and later obtained her Master’s degree at the University of Minnesota.
She married Omar Adams in 1946. She taught English and Speech for 40 years, many of those in Detroit Lakes, MN. The last years of her teaching career were spent teaching at Saint Cloud State University, her alma mater. There she set up a scholarship fund for outstanding forensic students. In 1978 she received the CTAM Award (Communications and Theater Association of Minnesota) as an outstanding individual in communication and theater.
She was preceded in death by her husband Omar Adams, parents, Paul and Marie Ahles, sisters Louise Ahles and Mildred Shogren, and brother Ted Ahles. She is survived by 5 nieces and 1 nephew.
A Funeral Mass will be held in St. Cloud, Minnesota on April 1, 2016.
