Mary Louise Whited

December 9, 1925 — April 20, 2018

HOUSTON - Mary L. Whited met Jesus face to face on April 20, 2018. She now joins her husband, Orson V. Whited (1919-2012); their infant son, Larry (1955-1956); parents, siblings and best friends. What a glorious and joyous reunion! Mary and Orson were married in Fort Worth, Texas in 1944 and moved to Weslaco in 1954 with their two children. They joined First Baptist Church at that time and remained active and involved until a few years prior to death. Mary taught Sunday school, and sang in the choir (we got the "look" if we misbehaved). She loved the church and actively participated as a witness by telling others about the love of Jesus. Mary was always inviting new people she met to join her in worship .We will be forever grateful for parents who took us to church and taught us the Word of God. Mary will be remembered by family and friends for her innovative and creative abilities which included macramé design, making prom and wedding dresses from pictures, running a firecracker stand to building outdoor showers. She had a love of the earth and sense of adventure. Mary enjoyed her working years and the people she worked for and became part of her family. But above all, she will be remembered for her great faith in our Lord and Savior and for praying for us on a daily basis. Mary believed in the power of prayer. She had faith that the Lord answered her prayers and followed Jesus as He led her. Though we miss our parents deeply, we know that because we believe in Jesus Christ, we too will join them in future years. Mary is survived by her son, Morrow Whited and wife Robin; grandson, Jay Sutton; and great- grandson, Brenden Sutton all of Fort Worth; her daughter, Lana Marie Paris; her grandson, Dave Paris and wife Megan; and her three great-grandchildren, Evelyn, Waylon and Elaine all of Houston. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Frances Whited of El Paso. We thank the staff and caregivers at Valley Grande Manor, Weslaco, Woodwind Lakes, Houston and Vantage Hospice, Katy Texas for the love and care they gave to our Mother. We will always be grateful for Pastor Steven Parker and Associate Pastors Joe Aguilar, Ray Sanchez and Robin Wiley for their continued prayer, communication and visitation during our mother's illness. And to our lifelong and forever friends, we thank you for your love and support. The Interment of Mary's ashes will be alongside her husband's in the family plots in Durant, Oklahoma. The family is honoring Mary with flowers at First Baptist Church, Weslaco, May 6, 2018.
