Weslaco- Merced J Escobar, 92, passed away on Sunday, January 15th, 2017. She was born in Rio Grande City, Texas to Marcos and Narcisa Juarez on July 19, 1924. She had two brothers and a sister. Merced was a great cook and always had a great snack for the kids after school. Many times she was cooking for the entire neighborhood. She also loved to gamble and took plenty of trips to Las Vegas and Louisiana. She was quite lucky also! She loved to care for her grandchildren and helped raise them while the kids were working. Above all, Merced loved her Lord and Savior and was a devout Catholic, praying the rosary daily. She loved to read scriptures and her favorite verse was Psalm 91. She is preceded in death by her husband Eleazar Escobar, her brother, Casimiro Juarez, her sister, Julia Quintero, her granddaughter, Jo Ann De la Garza, and her son in law, Charles W Williams.
